LOVERBOY ROCKIN' FOR DIABETES RESEARCH

For Immediate Release, October 12, 2000

Over $65,000.00 Raised! Way to go!

Vancouver, British Columbia - International rock group, LOVERBOY announced today that the band will host an unforgettable evening at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, Saturday November 25th to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Paul, Mike, Doug, Scott and Matt have invited friends and fellow performers to join them for this one night only concert to raise funds and awareness in the fight to find the cure for Juvenile Diabetes. A complete list of performers for this event will be released in the next few weeks.

This generous gift, is inspired by the love for Jake, four-year old son of Paul Dean, guitarist and founding member of LOVERBOY. Jake was diagnosed with Type I diabetes, also know as Juvenile Diabetes, last fall.

More than 2.25 million Canadians, many of them children, are affected by diabetes. Children stick to a strict diet and exercise plan and must take insulin injections daily just to stay alive. Even if a child manages diabetes, they still may face the complications arising from diabetes including blindness, stroke, amputation and heart and kidney disease.

JDF is a world leader in funding diabetes research and gives more resources than any other non-profit, non-governmental organization. Since its inception in 1974, JDF Canada has been part of most major breakthroughs in diabetes research and has given more than $49 million to diabetes research, including $8 million this year.

The Rockin' for Research concert will be long remembered as a night when LOVERBOY & GUESTS convert their passion and music into hope for a cure.

Mike Reno, lead singer and front man for LOVERBOY is enthusiastic about the benefit stating, "Little kids like Jake should grow-up in a world free of diabetes - we've conquered others - remember polio?" "BRING ON THE CURE!"

The evening is expected to draw some 900 guests and raise $25,000 for diabetes research. Tickets may be purchased through Ticketmaster or by calling the JDF office 604-320-1937
